to answer some of your questions.

i phone my son on thursday and was able to help him get his paper work in order for, get this: "college".

we're good.. the wife and i have about 10 family members that are jw's as well as over 12 close friends, 100's of friends in 5 states.

Weasel was widely disliked, so it figures he has moved up the ranks in the JW pantheon. Do you recall the really nice CS who followed Weasel. A really NICE guy, obviously not Watchtower mgmt material...

Theists - Why does Morality require the existence of God?

I'm an atheist. I have no fear of judgemnt day.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" says NOTHING about god.

If god-based morality is superior, why is it so ineffective?

The phrase "having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power" is an indictment of the majority of "god-fearing" people of the world.

I agree with Ayn Rand that informed self-interest is a perfect foundation for morality.

congratulations to justitia themis on all her hard work at putting herself through law school.

after being raised in the watchtower organization and having survived all of what that entails she has picked up the pieces, analyzed her strengths and has made choices to better herself and the community.. .

i am so proud of her.

first of all thanks for all the kind words!!!

i am over whelmed by the responses.

i work very hard through the week and the only time i can reply is in the early morning hours, i read the respones on my iphone through out the day, if there was a way to log on with the phone, i would.

i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.

probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.

was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

I would like to offer a word of warning, however. If you think that your meaningless* Watchtower "credentials" mean diddly-squat in here, or that you will "guide," "diect," or "shepherd" anyone here on the basis of your Watchtower creds, you are going to be very, very disappointed.

*They only mean that you swam in the deep end of the mind-control-cult swimming pool.

She is the ONLY JW at a family gathering and she wants you to tell him he's not welcome? F that S!

I would undermine her. I'd tell him there is going to be a family gathering and you are welcome, but your idiot ex-wife will be there, so be prepared. I would encourage him to go, even offering to go with him, and I'd help him be THE social butterfly of the day.
